19 Oct Berdini’s Girl Small Step For Odyssey Moon
Twin Hills stallion Odyssey Moon got off to the perfect start with his first runner, Berdini’s Girl, saluting at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday in the $50,000 Haymans Electrical Caloundra Hcp (1000m).
Berdini’s Girl is trained in Queensland by Chris Munce who along with young and talented agent Arthur Hoyeau purchased the filly for $35,000 from the Sledmere Stud draft at the 2020 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
It was a great result for the team to have her winning at her first start and a pleasing result for Woodpark Stud, who bred the filly and have been big supporters of Odyssey Moon since he went to stud.
Berdini still resides at Jean and Karine Dubois’ Woodpark Stud and after foaling a full sister to Berdini’s Girl last season she has had a colt this season by the Woodpark raced stallion Aylmerton, who has served a number of mares the past two seasons.
“It is always nice to see horses that we have bred and sold go on and win for people and it’s a great result for Odyssey Moon to have his first runner a winner, particularly with a few more at home,” Jean Dubois said.
Odyssey Moon is a Group 3 winning son of sire sensation Snitzel who won the VRC Standish Handicap and was runner-up in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes.
Berdini is a two-time winning mare and is out of the half-sister to Group 1 Dubai World Cup winner Monterosso.
