23 Nov Foaling Season Concludes at Woodpark Stud
Spring is an amazing time of the year for any horse farm with new arrivals lining the paddocks. As the fresh candidates to be future champions of the turf take their first steps the staff often have little sleep or interrupted nights and the work the next day still must get done.
The final mare to foal down this year at Woodpark Stud was Girluphigh (IRE) who gave birth to a Deep Field filly in early November. The 2020 season was largely a success for the Mittagong farm with half-siblings to horses such as Skyward (colt, Brazen Beau x Shakeyourbody (USA)), Aylmerton (filly, Snitzel x Aloona (USA)) and the recently retired See You Soon (colt, Trapeze Artist x Soneva (USA)) being born.
On top of these highlights Woodpark Stud also welcomed the first Aylmerton foals after supporting the stallion who raced in their colours and resides on the farm.
“It was excellent to see the first Aylmerton foals and overall where are pleased with how they came out,” said Jean Dubois.
“We have supported him with a few mares and now we look forward to seeing how they grow out and progress.
“Overall we are pleased with the foals on the ground and look forward to both selling some of them at the major sales in the future as well as racing some of them and putting them through our system.
“The team here at the farm do a wonderful job and we are thankful for that.”
