19 Apr Hot Run for Woodpark-Bred Siyouni’s
See You In Spring’s win at Cranbourne on Friday Night was the party starter that flowed into Le Vizir’s victory Saturday with two Woodpark Stud-bred progeny of Champion French Stallion Siyouni saluting across two states at the weekend.
See You In Spring kicked off her career with a dominant display on debut in the Thoroughbred Breeders Super VOBIS Maiden Plate over 1000m and Le Vizir backed it up the next day with a win in a Class 1 Handicap at Kembla Grange.
See You In Spring looks to have a very bright future, much to the excitement of First Light Racing and trainer’s Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young. The team purchased her alongside agent Paul Willetts for $85,000 from the 2020 Inglis Ready2Race Sale out of the Highlands Racing and Bloodstock draft.
She was coming into her first race after an impressive trial win and Trent Busuttin was full of praise for his two-year-old filly after the race.
“She’s got plenty of speed and plenty of attitude as well,” he said.
“She settled nicely when she did get to the lead and was strong through the line.”
See You In Spring’s dam Spring Colours was imported to Australia by Woodpark Stud after being served by Siyouni to Southern Hemisphere time. She has an Astern colt that is a yearling and a foal at foot by Siyouni’s son Aylmerton, who was also bred and raced by Woodpark.
Le Vizir was able to make it two consecutive wins in his short career so far when he toughed it out to beat Maranoa on the line at Kembla Grange on Saturday and is another horse who looks like he has plenty ahead of him.
Trained by Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, he was a $260,000 purchase at the 2019 Magic Millions Yearling Sale by his owners Bennelong Bloodstock.
The three-year-old has just had the four starts with a 50% winning strike rate and it was also the first time he had stepped out to the 1500m.
Australia has been a happy hunting ground for Siyouni from limited runners with five winners from six starts and Woodpark Stud have had a lot to do with that. Amongst his best performers have been Woodpark pair Aylmerton, winner of the Group 2 Todman Stakes, now standing at Woodpark’s Mittagong farm, and the Group-placed filly See You Soon.
