Classic Inglis Sale for Woodpark

11 Feb Classic Inglis Sale for Woodpark

Woodpark Stud kick-started the 2021Yearling Sale season in great fashion at the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast last month and continued that momentum at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale this week. As well as selling four lots the Mittagong farm also purchased a colt and a filly to add to the stable.

Capitalist was the sire of the moment at the sale after siring the Inglis Millennium winner, Profiteer, the Saturday before the Classic sale kicked off the next day.

Woodpark joined the party when going to $380,000 for a filly by the Newgate stallion out of the American Listed-winning mare Tricky Zippy.

“The filly looks precocious, the dam from America was very quick and we really like the cross with Capitalist who is in hot form right now with his two-year-old runners.

“We actually only looked at her once and we just saw her coming out this morning and when a yearling just takes your eyes like this, you have to go for it.”

Woodpark also signed for a Star Witness colt with a huge pedigree that features Group 1 Queensland Derby winner Eagle Way. The colt was out of the Hinchinbrook mare Sweet Eagle.

“This colt has a strong Hong Kong page with a lot of the family performing over there and you just know what you are going to get with a Star Witness so perhaps he could be a horse suited to that market later on down the track,” Dubois added.

Selling at Inglis’ Riverside Stables Woodpark had four fillies entered in the Lustre Lodge draft.

The first to go through the ring was Lot 205 – Russian Revolution x Orion Love. She was purchased by P Diamond, Matt Cumani and Boomer Bloodstock for $75,000.

Orion Love was the foundation Australian mare for Woodpark and was sent down to Chris Waller as the Dubois’ dipped their toe in the Australian Industry from France.

This filly is the second last foal of the mare as she was unfortunately found dead in her paddock but has a nice Harry Angel colt on the farm.

Lot 441 – Smart Missile x Advance To Go filly was purchased by Gold Edge Syndications for $50,000 and she was a lovely strong individual.

Smart Missile continues to throw winners and Advance To Go is already the dam of a Listed place getter so it looks promising for the team at Gold Edge.

The last day of selling saw the final two lots go through the ring with Tim Martin purchasing Lot 645 – Caravaggio x Jolie Joy for $16,000.

Jolie Joy is the first foal of Zighy Bay, the dam of Group 1 winner Qafila as well as the $800,000 I Am Invincible colt that sold to Chris Waller and Coolmore at the Magic Millions last month.

The final yearling for Woodpark was Lot 766 – Odyssey Moon x Berdini who sold for $35,000 to Rod Northam Racing.

Rod Northam was, of course, the trainer of Odyssey Moon, who’s first winner as a stallion was this fillies full sister in training with Chris Munce. Berdini’s Girl won on debut and finished second at her only other start.

The attention now turns to the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale where Woodpark will be offering three yearlings.
