Filly for See You Soon

24 Oct Filly for See You Soon

Woodpark Stud is pleased with the arrival of a filly from their juvenile-winning, Group-placed mare See You Soon. The filly was by Arrowfield based stallion The Autumn Sun.

See You Soon is by French sire sensation Siyouni and only missed a place once in her five start career.

She won on debut in the Kirkham Plate at Randwick over 1000m, getting the better of Dame Giselle who would become a rival of hers in the starts to come.

At her next two starts, she ran second in the $1 million Golden Gift and the Group 2 Reisling Stakes, with only Dame Giselle in front of her both times.

See You Soon ran eighth in the Group 1 Golden Slipper behind Farnan in her penultimate start, the only race in her career she missed the placings.

Her final start as a two-year-old was a third placing in the Group 2 Percy Sykes.

See You Soon was spelled and came back as a three-year-old but refused to enter the barriers. It was decided by Woodpark that she would be sent to stud and a date with The Autumn Sun loomed.

The resultant foal has been progressing nicely and is a lovely type. She has been getting stronger and stronger. The team at Woodpark are looking forward to watching her develop into a yearling.

“It was very unfortunate that she was retired the way she was and it all happened so fast,” Jean Dubois said.

“It was in September last year that we decided to send her to stud as we could have spelled her and tried again, although we may have just wasted a year.

“The Autumn Sun was an outstanding racehorse. We thought that on type and pedigree, he was an excellent match for See You Soon. They are both young horses and matched up well.

“We are happy with this mating as Galileo can give her a bit of stamina, which never hurts, and of course he is by a champion in Redoute’s. He will be commercial and he has all you need to be a good stallion. The mating is good.”
