Julian Rock is the gift that keeps on giving. The eight-year-old veteran has shown no signs of slowing down with another win under the lights at Canterbury Park on Friday night.

Given a patient ride by Kerrin McEvoy, the pair hugged the rail and peeled off at the right time to kick clear in the SVM Roseville Kia Evening Star (BM72) over 1100m.

Julain Rock’s seventh win took his earnings to $385,660 from his 44 starts. He has eight placings to go along with his wins.

“He is just a marvel, this horse,” Pierre Dubois said.

“He had five starts in France before coming to Australia, and he keeps this love of racing.

“Every time we send him to the paddock, we wonder if he will still be interested when he comes back next time in. He continues to impress.

“He is a bit of a favourite in the stable as he is a bit of a constant. The fillies go to stud, and he keeps returning prep after prep.

“He is certainly a character.”

Julian Rock is by Invincible Spirit and is out of top-class Woodpark broodmare Soneva. She has also produced perennial winner The Blue Eye and locally See You Soon. Her Snitzel yearling colt was withdrawn from Magic Millions and will be offered at the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale.

Although he won over a mile at Longchamp in just his second career start, he has shown a liking to the shorter trips here in Australia.
