Woodpark Shakes Magic Millions

21 Jan Woodpark Shakes Magic Millions

Woodpark Stud only had the one yearling entered for this year’s Magic Millions Yearling Sale, and the team were thrilled to see their Brazen Beau x Shakeyourbody (USA) filly purchased by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott with Arrowfield Stud.

Catalogued as Lot 507 and presented by Attunga Stud, the Bay or Brown Filly went through the ring on the third day of selling at a very competitive sale.

The Tulloch Lodge trainers and John Messara’s Arrowfield went to $350,000 to secure the well-bred filly.

Shakeyourbody is the dam of two French Group 3 winners and another Group 3 place-getter in France. One of those winners is Skyward by Camelot, who John Messara purchased a majority share in and imported to race in Australia.

Skyward has only had the three runs ‘Down Under’ and is on the comeback from injury, now in the care of Paul Messara at the Arrowfield Training Complex.

“She was quite an attractive, big filly, so we thought she would generate some interest,” Woodpark’s Jean Dubois said.

“We were so thrilled to see her realise that price and head into such a good stable.

“Obviously there is the link with Arrowfield, and this filly will be a great addition to their stable and broodmare band in the future.”

It is not just overseas that Shakeyourbody has thrown winners. Le Vizir is flying the flag since the mare was imported to Woodpark’s NSW Southern Highlands farm.

Le Vizir is the resultant foal of a Siyouni cover at Southern Hemisphere time, when the decision was made to bring Shakeyourbody to Australia.

Le Vizir was purchased for $260,000 by Bennelong Bloodstock at the 2019 edition of the Magic Millions. He is now in the Peter and Paul Snowden stable.

Shakeyourbody is by Giant’s Causeway and is a sister to American Group 1 winner Frost Giant.

Shakeyourbody did not foal this season and was served by Kia Ora’s freshman stallion Prague on an early cover.

Woodpark Stud’s attention now turns to the Inglis Classic Sale were they will offer three yearlings through the Twin Hills draft.
