13 Feb Classic Sale for Woodpark
Woodpark Stud offered three yearlings at the recent Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, all of which were beautifully presented by Twin Hills Stud.
The team at Woodpark were delighted to carry the great result on the Gold Coast through to the Inglis Classic. The three yearlings offered all sold for six-figure sums.
Lot 124 was a first-crop son of Harry Angel out of the imported mare Orion Love. The chestnut colt is the last foal out of the first horse the Dubois’ sent ‘Down Under’ before relocating their family to Australia.
Orion Love was unfortunately lost a little over 12 months ago carrying an Aylmerton foal.
The Harry Angel x Orion Love colt was purchased by Avenue Bloodstock and Will Freedman for $100,000. He will be given every chance, being trained by the up and coming Will Freedman at his Scone Stables.
The first crop of Harry Angel, who stands at Darley Kelvinside, have sold extremely well so far this year and they are landing in all the good stables.
Lot 160 was a Justify colt out of the American-bred mare Prevalent. Justify is another stallion with his first crop selling this year, and selling well at that.
Coolmore Australia has a huge belief that Justify is the ‘real deal’ and have offered the buyer of his first Group 1 winner at Two and/or Three a brand new Ferrari.
Mark and Levi Kavanagh will be hoping to win the coveted prize, going to $140,000 to secure Lot 160 Justify (USA) x Prevalent (USA) colt.
“I thought he was one of the better Justify’s I have seen this year,” Mark Kavanagh said.
“What really attracted me is that it is an American family put back over an American Stallion, and that seems to be the blood that works with these American Shuttle Sires.”
The final offering was a hidden gem offered in Book 2 of the Sale. Catalogued as Lot 789 the Deep Field x Girluphigh filly is the half-sister to the Woodpark-trained Girl Mania.
Girl Mania provided a timely pedigree update for this filly, winning twice after the catalogue went to print.
Bryce Heys’ Ellerslie Lodge went to $100,000 to secure the filly. She will be trained out of Heys’ Warwick Farm Stables.
“We would like to send a big thank you to Olly Tait and his team at Twin Hills Stud for presenting our Yearlings in magnificent order,” Jean Dubois said.
“A big thanks also to the buyers of our Yearlings and we wish those people every success with them. We look forward to following their careers.”
Woodpark Stud’s attention now turns to the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, where they will offer a National Defense filly through the Twin Hills draft.
